The Kusam Klimb Trail is a rugged and adventurous loop that ascends Mt. H’Kusam and descends through the Stowe Creek watershed. This challenging yet rewarding route features steep elevation, winding through dense forest before opening up to breathtaking 360-degree views of the mountains and ocean. Visitors recommend parking at Sabre Rd. The trail is generally well-marked.
Mt. H’Kusam is situated in Sayward, about 75 kilometers north of Campbell River along the Inland Island Highway (Hwy 19). The trailhead can be found off Sabre Road, 2 kilometers from the Heritage Hall on Sayward Road. Follow the pavement uphill until it curves to the right, then take a left. You’ll see a trail sign on the right and a parking lot for hikers on the left.
